Blacklist Profiles\The Spam and Open Relay Blocking System (SORBS)
The SORBS (Spam and Open Relay Blocking System) provides free access to its DNS-based Block List (DNSBL) to effectively block email from more than 12 million host servers known to disseminate spam, phishing attacks and other forms of malicious email. The list typically includes email servers suspected of sending or relaying spam, servers that have been hacked and hijacked, and those with Trojan infestations.

Blacklist type
RBL: A RBL dnsbl is simply an anti-spam “black list” delivered via DNS which consists of IP addresses which are found in the body of the message. Specifically, there are the domains and IP addresses which spammers use to host their web sites.
Threat level/ delivery impact
Brand/ Network Resource/ Deliverability Harm - If your firm is impacted by threats shown below, you need to take immediate action as a laundry list of negative outcomes have potentially already begun ranging from significant deliverability issues to service termination from your ESP or ISP. If ignored, your brand reputation could be permanently tarnished and easily become associated in some circles with known spam organizations such as SpamHaus’s ROKSO or other similar blacklists.
Nomination
Listing is manual and is performed when any spam is received at a SORBS spamtrap. SORBS spamtraps include, but are not limited to, the private email addresses of the SORBS administrators. On occasion, when a particular network is seen to be spamming and the listing of a single IP address seems to have no effect, increasingly larger sections of the Netblock will be listed. If spamming continues, the size of the listing will be slowly expanded (depending on the number of spams received) until something is done about the spammer.
Listing lifetime

Notes
Delisting guidance
De-listing is relatively easy. You log in to the SORBS Support System at http://www.sorbs.net/cgi-bin/support and answer the questions truthfully and honestly. If you are within the thresholds and limits you will be presented with a 'Delist Me' button which you may use to "Self-Delist" the listing.
